Settling In

Hi it's Shammy and I thought I would share how I'm doing in my foster home.  Turns out I have a foster brother and sister.  They have been really nice to me and are showing me the ropes.  They warned me that I was going to have to listen to FoMa and learn a lot if I am going to be ready for my forever home.  I assured them I'm up for the challenge.

First lesson was where to go when a  lady needs to go potty.  I got that down by the second day.  No accidents in the house for me.  That seems to make FoMa very happy which I'm learning gets me lots of hugs and petting.  Next it was on to meal times.  I learned that I have to eat in my crate and that I should eat my food and not just watch the others.  It's just that FoSis Dolly makes a lot of noise banging around in her crate at meal times.  I'm learning to ignore her and eat all my food slowly like a lady.  FoMa makes it real good now with a little warm water so its just right.

It only took me a day to learn how to do the stairs.  I figured out that all the fun stuff happens upstairs and no way am I going to be left out.  I can go up and down all by myself.  I learned that when FoMa says 'off', I should take my feet off of things like the kitchen counter, the bird cage, the telle and the vanity where I found a pretty little greyhound that looks like me. Yes, I checked it all out. A lot. I'm the curious type.
FoMa says that pretty girl in the mirror is me!!!

I found out that I can't get to the dogs in that telle thing either. I sure tried though. Now I don't even pay attention to it.

FoSis Dolly showed me that instead of looking at the birdy in the cage, we can look out the window and see everything that happens on our street.  FoMa seems to think that suits my nosy nature.

FoMa is happy with my progress.  She says I will be ready in no time to go home with my forever family.  I am already better at posing for the camera and not being so wiggly. I do love a good wiggle though and as long as FoMa isn't holding that camera then I can wiggle all I want.

First Photo Shoot

It's Shammy here and I am on a whirl wind tour to my retirement. I left the track in Florida and made a stop in North Carolina to join up with other pups making their way north to the promise land of retirement.  This girl can't wait to lay on soft beds, prance through the streets in pretty collars, eat yummy treats and basically love all over my forever family.

The good folks at GEGR picked me and my friends up in VA on Saturday and then it was off to Maryland.  I met what was soon to be my foster mom (FoMa) in the van.  She was having trouble with my name. Kept calling me "Shammy Off" whenever I tried to give them kisses and offered to assist with the driving.  I was too excited to just lay down and sleep.  I'm preparing for my big break.  Once we got to greyhound central we got all spruced up and then it was photo time!  I was first and I was going to show those other pups how a real model does it.

Ok so they didn't tell me I had to stand still for the camera.  I thought it was all about the action shots.  I wanted to show off all my skills of leaping and turning and dancing around on the leash.  Plus there were toys to play with too.  Seems I was giving it a little too much but as you will see my photos are gorgeous!!

Check out my long beautiful neck in this one. Modeling 101.

Giving a little profile in this one.

Now you can melt as I give you the Shammy eyes.

By the way, my bum doesn't look too bad in my cover photo either. Just sayin.
Now that I have your attention, follow me as I prepare for life in retirement.  I may be destined to play a staring role in your family.
